South Africa's wickedest satirist is back with a tongue so sharp it could slice through ice. De Vries knows his onions, and remains one of the few comedians who take salacity to the utmost limit without giving the slightest offence. Casper's superb talents have surely earned him a place in the select coterie of the national treasures, this country should guard and nurture with pride.
Few entertainers throw themselves into the work with the unbridled passion of Casper de Vries. He does't let up for a second, and he has the amazing facility of letting us think he is making it all up as he goes along. Nothing could be further from the truth, though. That brilliant script is the result of long hours of work and of observing the human race and its foibles.
His show, which revolves around life, death and other humorous issues, takes a bitingly satirical look at Bill Clinton, steroids, Mimi Coertse, the Comrades Marathon, sponsors, TV continuity announcers, rock stars and what he does to Viagra, National Party leader Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Nelson Mandela, cloning, pets and the media, is nobody's business. But it is all done in the inimitable style he has made his own, and the result is entertainment no one who enjoys good theatre should miss!
